Though teenage rock queens like Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch flooded the US airwaves in the early 2000s, they were barely audible in Latin America. Thankfully talented sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter Natasha Jeanne (a.k.a. JD Natasha), who was signed to EMI Latin, was there to pick up the slack.  Back in 2005, her debut album Imperfecta/Imperfect scored three Latin GRAMMY nominations.

We have very exciting news, this week we will be posting our Exclusive interview with Fancy Me Yet! In the interview the band talks about their music, what it was like playing their first show, and their favorite moments so far. The boys let us know a little bit more about their lives before the band, and Natasha talks to us about her career as Jd Natasha. You don’t want to miss out on this interview!

Heres a sneak Peek:

Could you briefly describe the music-making process?

It’s different for each song, but it usually starts with a riff one of us starts playing. From then on, we start laying out the basis of the arrangement until it’s solid enough for us to add melodies and our own unique individual aspects. A big part of what makes our music stand-out is that each of us equally contributes to the process.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Find your own unique sound and just go for it. Avoid procrastination and be prepared to go to great lengths to get your name out there.

Keep Checking back for the complete Interview!!

Natasha, along with bandmates Alex and Chris are Fancy Me Yet, and together they are an indie pop-rock trio that combine an elegant blend of up-beat electronic synths, rocking guitar pieces, kicking drum beats and strong female vocals that will leave you begging for more! As Natasha herself puts it “our music usually revolves around the theme of motion because of the constant energy that is emitted from our sound.”

The result is obviously a bi-product of the Rocking Trio’s friendship. “Alex and I started the band in May 2009. We started off jamming together for fun when we both realized there was chemistry and potential in the music. A few months after writing ‘Amusing Me’ Chris approached us on MySpace. We really hit it off writing music as a trio which is rare.”

Since then, it has become increasingly clear that Fancy Me yet is rapidly growing in momentum! “We have been generating a following in the South Florida Music Scene by playing key shows. Endorsements from Gibson, Shine, and BMI have helped us gain attention from the music industry.”

While Fancy Me Yet draws inspiration from better known bands such as Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Blondie and U2, their professionalism is not exactly beginners luck.

Natasha Jeanne, who was formerly known as “JD Natasha” previously held a record deal with EMI records and was nominated for three Latin Grammys before starting over with Fancy Me Yet. “It’s something Where I wasn’t happy with the direction the label wanted me to go, so I stayed true to what I believe and decided to follow my heart. Now I am making music I love with Fancy Me Yet.”

First of, as you can see we have a new look. Lots of  thanks to Edoardo Peltrini for designing and coding it for us. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do.

Also the band has completely revamped their Myspace page with a new layout and new photos, they have also added a (really great) song called Middle Man. You can listen to the new song on the sidebar by clicking play or you can head to the bands Myspace page. Make sure you let them know what you think of the song.

“Fancy Me Yet”, a Miami-based trio, seems destined for big things. Lead singer Natasha Jeannette Duenas, formerly known as Latin-pop superstar JD Natasha, had been nominated for three Latin Grammys before eschewing her big time label for her indie rock outfit.

With over a quarter million hits on their MySpace page and a pretty big official fan site, “Fancy Me Yet’s” original sound and stand-alone attitude pushes the envelope towards what the music scene is waiting for.
