Fancy me yet? Yes! If you know the band you know who we're talking about, Fancy Me Yet is a Miami based band who have exploded online with their Indie pop sound! Their catchy music, lyrics and look has drawn in many fans. Some new fans attracted by the new look, new music and some fans who grew with JD Natasha now known simply as Natasha, who joined by Chris and Alex have become the band we love. So here it is exclusive to their fans whom they thank for their continued support, a little inside look on a personal level with the band as we ask some of the questions we've been waiting to have answered....

Lets start off with natasha, a lot of us knew you as Jd Natasha what made you decided to completely change your image and music sound?

Before recording the second JD Natasha record, I took a breather to collect my thoughts and realized I was not where I wanted to be musically at that point in my life. I therefore decided to leave my deal with EMI & pursue my music career in a more creative route. The opportunities that were given to me and the support from the fans is something that I embrace till this day and will continue with Fancy Me Yet.

Some people feel let down that you decided depart from your Spanish rock music, while others couldn't wait for you to release music in English, what part of your career do you feel you identify with most?

When I was 15 the opportunity to make Spanish pop rock with a major label was what was offered to me and felt right then. I had a great time and learned a lot from that experience. It is something I am proud of, but it is not what I identify myself with now. Playing in Fancy Me Yet constantly reminds me of why I am a musician and there's no greater feeling than playing music with talented friends. It's way more fun compared to traveling alone. I am very happy with the music the band and I are writing/playing right now and completely identify with it.

What has it been like to finally be able to make music the way you envision?

The greatest feeling in the world! For me, music is art, and art is a form of expression. So to bring my musical vision to life is a feeling that I can't describe in words, but that you can see on stage.

Alex, you and Natasha started Fancy me yet before Chris joined the band, what made you want to start a band together?

Natasha and I met through friends. We hung out a few times together and both shared similar interests in music, so we decided to jam for fun one day. The chemistry enabled us to write a few indie songs together, but we had larger dreams; we wanted to expand more musically. The thought of making a band inspired and challenged us to start from zero.

Why the name Fancy Me Yet?

The initial idea came to me when I was watching the movie "Closer". I always thought the jargon used in the UK was different in a cool way. For instance, here in the states when you're interested in someone you usually say, "I like you." In the you UK they say, "I fancy you." So I told Natasha the idea of "Fancy Me," but she thought something was missing. So I then said, "Fancy Me Yet."

Let's get to know more about the men behind the band, Alex/Chris tell us a little bit about yourselves?

Chris:I've been playing music for almost 8 years. Before joining the band, I was writing songs for my own projects along with performing with various groups. When I'm not playing music I'm usually recording it, for music production is a huge hobby of mine. My best friend is my dog, Charlie, who I deem smarter than most people I know.

Alex:Before I was in the band I went to UCF and Miami-Dade Community College. While going to school, I also had part time jobs such as being a waiter at Cheese Cake Factory and LongHorn Steakhouse. I follow politics heavily and enjoy watching CNN which can drive people I know crazy sometimes. I'm a huge fan of film and going to the movies. I'm a very sociable person and joking around comes natural to me. Music has always been in my life, through the good times and the bad.

Chris what was it like joining Fancy Me Yet? Were you friends before?

Joining Fancy Me Yet was a big decision for me. I was leaving my current band in West Palm to join another band in Miami with people that I had just met. The music had definitely spoken for itself though, and after my first day in the band I knew I had made the right choice because everything just felt totally right.

How has your friendship developed since starting the band?

The fact that we rehearse all the time and practically live together, our friendship has evolved into a brother/sister relationship. "We're like a tripod; if one of us falls, we all fall down." - Chris

Take us back to your first show together, what was that like?

We were all really excited to play together. The energy and chemistry we had between the 3 of us was something we knew we wanted to experience soon afterwards.

What has been your personal favorite moment from being in the band?

Chris - Shaking hands with Thom Panunzio.
Alex - Getting sponsored by Gibson.
Natasha - Writing our first song together. From then on I knew it was meant to be.

What genre of music do you consider your songs to be? Who are your major influences?

Indie/Electro/Pop-rock; The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Blondie, U2

Could you briefly describe the music-making process?

It's different for each song, but it usually starts with a riff one of us starts playing. From then on, we start laying out the basis of the arrangement until it's solid enough for us to add melodies and our own unique individual aspects. A big part of what makes our music stand-out is that each of us equally contributes to the process.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Find your own unique sound and just go for it. Avoid procrastination and be prepared to go to great lengths to get your name out there.

What can we expect from Fancy Me Yet in 2010?

New music, a US tour, and world domination.

Any last words?

We really appreciate you taking the time to interview us. We also want to thank all of our fans that have been so supportive.
